Add Raster To Map

• Input Raster is browsed to rather than picked from the map, so a raster need not already be in the project.
• Processing Mode decides whether the raster is cropped on the way in, and which of the extent controls apply:

• The Extent / Boundary Settings section fills in whichever extent the mode needs: Reset returns the extent to its default and Refresh re-reads it.

• Use input raster NoData value carries the source raster's NoData value into the output, so transparent areas stay transparent rather than becoming black or zero. Clear it and set NoData value: to state the value explicitly — useful when the source declares no NoData value, or declares the wrong one.
• The Preview pane has its own drawing tools for defining a boundary by hand: rectangle, square, circle, and polygon, with a tick to accept the shape and a cross to clear it. A shape drawn here is what Use drawn boundary from preview refers to.
• Processing Log records what the run did, including the crop actually applied and anything that had to be adjusted. Read it when the output is not the extent you expected.
• Output Settings control where and how the result is written — Project geodatabase, Same as source, or Custom — together with an Output name and a Format.
• Three options govern what happens on a repeat run:
  • Overwrite if output already exists replaces an existing output file.
  • Replace existing layer in map with same name swaps the layer in the map rather than adding a duplicate.
  • Also add original raster to map adds the uncropped source alongside the result, for comparison.
• Display NoData as transparent sets the layer's display so NoData areas show through. This is a display property, not a change to the data.
• The Preview pane, with its 100% and 1:1 controls, shows the raster and any boundary before processing. Use it — cropping the wrong extent from a large raster is slow to discover and slow to undo.

1. On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Data Creation group, open the Quick Template menu and click Add Raster To Map.
2. Browse to the raster in Input Raster.
3. Set Processing Mode. Choose Add without clipping to add the raster whole, or one of the three clip modes.
4. To crop to a boundary, choose Clip by boundary polygon, then either select the polygons in the map and check Use selected polygons only, or draw a shape in the Preview pane and check Use drawn boundary from preview.
5. To crop to an extent instead, choose Clip by custom bounding box and click Use Map View, or type the coordinates. For a layer's extent, choose Clip by selected layer extent.
6. Check Use input raster NoData value and Display NoData as transparent so the edges stay clean. If the source declares no NoData value, clear the checkbox and type one in NoData value:.
7. Check the Preview pane and confirm the boundary is where you expect.
8. Set the output location, Output name, and Format.
9. Check Replace existing layer in map with same name if you are re-running.
10. Run the tool, then read Processing Log to confirm the crop that was applied.
