Elevation Profile from Line Path

The chart is fully styleable from the tool dialog — fonts (including Khmer typefaces), colours, grid, markers, and fill under the curve — so the output can be dropped straight into a report or map layout without editing in a graphics package.

  • Input Line Feature accepts polyline features only. The profile follows the line's geometry from its start vertex to its end vertex, so line direction determines which end appears on the left of the chart. Flip the line if the profile reads backwards.
  • Input Elevation Raster must cover the full length of the line. Sections of the line beyond the raster produce gaps in the profile.
  • Output Chart must be a .png or .jpg file. The chart is an image, not a layer — it is not added to the map.
  • All styling parameters sit behind Additional Chart Properties?. Leave it unchecked to accept the defaults, which produce a clean blue profile on a light background at 10×5 inches.
  • Customize Figure Size takes a WIDTHxHEIGHT string in inches — for example, 10x5. A larger figure gives more room for axis labels on a long profile.
  • For Khmer-language reports, set Choose Font to one of the Khmer typefaces in the list (Battambang, Bayon, Hanuman, Khmer OS, Khmer OS Muol, and others). The chosen font applies to the title and axis labels.
  • Axis titles default to metric labels — Distance (m) and Elevation (m). Change them to match the raster's actual vertical units if it is not in metres; the tool does not convert units.

Profile line colour. Offers a standard palette plus terrain-themed and ArcGIS-themed colours and a colourblind-safe set. Default is Blue.

Draws a marker at each sampled point.

Point Marker Styleជម្រើសString

Marker shape — point, pixel, circle, square, diamond, triangle up/down/left/right, pentagon, hexagone 1, hexagon 2, star, plus. Default is circle.

Marker size. Default is 2.

Grid line width. Default is 0.25.

Grid colour — Light Gray, Soft Gray, Subtle Gray, Very Light Gray, Cool Gray, Warm Gray. Default is Light Gray.

Fill Under Graph

Fill Area Under Graph?ជម្រើសBoolean

Shades the area beneath the profile line, giving the familiar cross-section look.

Fill Colorជម្រើសString

The shading colour. Includes light, pastel, and dark-mode-friendly options. Default is Soft Amber.

របៀបប្រើ

  1. Add the elevation raster to the map.
  2. On the KGA Toolbox tab, in the Spatial Analysis group, open the Spatial Analysis menu, point to Create Profile, and click Elevation Profile from Line Path.
  3. For Input Line Feature, either choose an existing polyline layer or digitise the profile line directly on the map using the feature-set control on the dialog.
  4. Set Input Elevation Raster.
  5. Set Output Chart to a .png or .jpg path.
  6. To style the chart, check Additional Chart Properties? and adjust the categories as needed. For a Khmer-language report, set Choose Font to a Khmer typeface.
  7. Click Run, then open the image file.
